Home Care Package

What is Home Care Package?

The Australian Government’s Home Care Packages Program helps you to live independently in your own home for as long as you can. The Program provides a subsidy towards a package of care, services and case management to meet your personal needs. There are four levels of home care packages. A professional assessor will work with you to find out if a home care package is the right service for you, which level of service you need and when you might need it.

There are four levels of Home Care Packages, each offering a different subsidy amount. The funds are paid to the approved provider you choose, who will manage the funds and deliver case management, support, advice, and care services on your behalf. These funds help cover the cost of the services you receive, but they are not paid directly to you. Each level provides a varying amount of support, with higher levels offering more intensive care.

What Steps need to be taken to get a Home Care Package?

To check your eligibility for a Home Care Package or other in-home services, visit the My Aged Care website or call their contact centre at 1800 200 422.

The My Aged Care team will ask you a few questions to determine if you need an assessment by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT). If an ACAT assessment is required, they will evaluate your needs and confirm your eligibility for a Home Care Package, including the appropriate level of care.

At Rose Aged Care Service Pty Ltd, the number of care hours you receive depends on your package level and how you choose to allocate your funding. If you stay within your budget and opt for standard services, you can generally expect the following hours of care per fortnight:

  • Level 1: 4 hours
  • Level 2: 7 hours
  • Level 3: 17 hours
  • Level 4: 25 hours

Part of your funding will cover administrative and case management fees, while the rest is available for services that support your independence, health, and well-being.
